TriArt plus Canal

strainers

CANVAS: 12 oz. 100% cotton duck canvas which is the desired weight and strength for cancases over 24"x24".

CANVAS PREPARATION: The canvas is washed and heat pressed, which decontaminates the fabric afrom any mold, bacteria, spores, and dirt. This is importatn to ensure an excellent bond between he canvas and gesso and to inhibit the internal decay of finished works of art.

HAND STRETCHING: The raw canvas is stretched by hand, true to the traditional method, which produces the optimum directional tension between the weave of the canvas and the dimentions of the stretcher.

GESSO: The first coat is applied with a wooden squeegee to force the gesso into the weave fothe canvas thus ensureing a strong bond between the two. The canvas is sanded between coats to createa consisiten surface; a second coat is rolled on to a texture and tooth ready to easily accept pigment.

frame assembly
The Archival Line

Frames are made with basswood which is less prone to warping as it accepts environmental moisture changes gradually. It is one of the closest to pH neutral amoung N.A. species. It will not deterriorate or discolour a finished work due to acidity. Supports are milled from solid timber 1"x1 3/4" stock.

THE FRAME & ASSEMBLY

The single timber stock, is milled quarter or rift-sawn which aligns the wood grain in the proper orientation for increased dimensional and structural stability.
The frames are milled from solid timber to 1" X 1 3/4" stock, with a beveled edge and are quarter or rift-sawn, which aligns the wood grain to increase stability.
The frames are veveled for an uninterrupted painting plane. The crossbars are spaced a maximum 24" apart and are connected with lap joints that add strength and durability. The mitered corners and cross bars are fixed to maximize stability and to prevent improper adjustment to the tension of a finished artwork.

The wood, gesso, and packaging are selected for their quality and proven performance!
