Faux-Cadres Canal and Tri-Art Mfg. are pleased to introduce a new product line of Archival stretched and gessoed strainers. The combined expertise and marked attention to detail of these two purveyors of quality, results in a truly archival substrate for artists.

Faux-Cadres Canal has produced museum quality strainers, rigid panels and tondi for the Canadian arts community. Tri-Art Mfg. specializes in producing quality artist paints and mediums.

THE FRAME & ASSEMBLY

Frames are made with Basswood (American Linden). It is less prone to warping because it accepts environmental moisture changes more gradually than other species. It is one of the closest to pH neutral among N.A. species. It will not deteriorate or discolour a finished work due to acidity. The surface is a pressed 3 ply birch surface.
The single timber stock, is milled quarter or rift-sawn which aligns the wood grain in the proper orientation for increased dimensional and structural stability. The frames are milled from solid timber to 1" X 1 3/4" stock, and are quarter or rift-sawn, to also increase stability.
The crossbars are spaced a maximum 24" apart and are connected with lap and dado joints that add strength and durability. The mitered corners and cross bars are fixed to maximize stability and to prevent improper adjustment to the tension of a finished artwork.

The supports has two coats of Tri-Art's Finest quality Gesso. The gesso is made with 100% acrylic resulting in superior adhesion, flexibility and resistance to yellowing, cracking or pigment migration. The Titanium White ground privides a brilliant reflective surface. Both the STRAINER and PANELS come packaged in an ARCHIVAL, pH BALANCED BOX for storage
