Jeanne Krabbendam

Jeanne Krabbendam

Jeanne was born in Holland and, before immigrating to Vancouver in 1999, she lived in The Netherlands and Northern Africa. Growing up in Europe, she was exposed to various art forms from an early age. From the first years of her career Jeanne has been creating her own work as well as teaching students techniques that enable them to find their own artistic expression.

After receiving formal training in the European art tradition in The Netherlands and France, Jeanne began painting in series, primarily working with acrylics, collage and mixed media. Working in themes – 2 and 3 dimensional - allows her to explore a concept and, in this way, the process of creation is by itself a journey; a voyage through ideas, composition, texture and colour. The artist’ vision is to get as close as she can to the story she wants to share.

Jeanne has been involved in several community art projects, one of them being a large Olympic Art show organized with Coast Mental Health and The Gathering Place in 2010 during the Vancouver Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

Jeanne has extensive exhibit experience both in Europe and Canada and, since arriving in British Columbia, she has established herself as a successful mixed media artist. In addition to pieces that have been commissioned by individuals and corporations, a great deal of her work is sold at exhibits. Over the years many of her paintings have found homes in Europe, North and South America, Australia, South-Africa, China and Japan.
