Liquid Acrylics/Collage Extravaganza with Shirley Mancino
Awaken your creative spirit and playful nature. Learn to use liquid acrylics and collage elements as a vehicle for bold and loose self-expression. This exciting workshop helps both new and developing artists break free to explore new directions in acrylics, mediums and collage. By pouring, texturizing, layering, and pasting you will create stunning abstractions that you then reincarnate into gorgeous representational works. You will learn how to effectively use the often confusing array of acrylic mediums and grounds. Composition and design are an integral part of the session. Also included are attentive and helpful personal coaching, demonstrations and constructive group discussion. Relax, play, and reconnect with your joyful creative self. MIXED MEDIA: Expressive Drawing & Painting with Sharlena Wood

Acrylic Techniques with Peter John Reid
Learn how to turn a nice photo and a blank canvas into a painting that is all you. This hands-on course begins with the approaches and decisions that allow you to compose a plan uniquely your own. From there, brush and paint techniques will be demonstrated, and how they can (and will!) support what you want to bring to your painting. Each morning is dedicated to techniques, discussions, exploration, and practice. Afternoons are filled with working on individual canvas(es) and applying what has been learned to personal works under the watchful eye of a seasoned professional. Experimental Extravaganza: Collage with Shirley Mancino
This exciting workshop will help you break free and explore new directions in mixed watermedia. You will loosen up and explore the interesting effects and textures created by combining liquid acrylics with various other media, e.g. water-soluble crayons, soft pastels. Discover ways to resurrect your unsuccessful watermedia paintings using collage and/or black ink, coloured pencil, gesso or gouache. You will be inspired to move from nature towards abstraction. Composition and design is a fundamental part of the session. Creativity, fun, and individual uniqueness will be emphasized. Shirley will demonstrate using both acrylics and watercolour.

Keys to Composition - Acrylic Painting with Claudia Jean McCabe
Creativity is all about choices, and nowhere is this more critical than in the arrangement of elements within the painting space. The possibilities for setting up both interesting and exciting creative compositions are endless. This workshop will help define some of the basic formats that will create the “bones” for your successful paintings. The objective of this two-day (weekend workshop) is to teach participants the twelve basic composition elements considered in the painting process. Fabulous Experimental Collage
This exciting workshop will help you break free and explore new directions in mixed watermedia. You will loosen up and explore the interesting effects and textures created by combining watercolour or acrylic with various other media, e.g. water-soluble crayons, soft pastels, acrylics. Discover ways to resurrect your unsuccessful watermedia paintings using collage and/or black ink, coloured pencil, gesso or gouache. You will be inspired to move from nature towards abstraction. Composition and design is a fundamental part of the session. Creativity, fun, and individual uniqueness will be emphasized. Shirley will demonstrate using both watercolour and acrylics. $175.00 for two-day workshop. All paints and mediums during the sessions are provided by Tri-Art Canada. By pouring, texturizing, layering, and pasting you will create stunning abstractions that you can then reincarnate into gorgeous representational works. You will learn how to effectively use the often confusing array of acrylic mediums and grounds. You will create your own stamps, templates and learn easy to use photo transfer processes. People-scapes/Landscapes With Panache
This workshop will feature the bold and free exploratory techniques mentioned above, and will also include on simplified approaches to painting figures as well as figures in the landscape. Participants will learn how to superimpose representational subjects on top of textural and abstract underpaintings while maintaining the essential mystery. Participants have the choice to maintain the illusion or build the image to quasi-representational detail. Work in the medium of your choice.

Jazzing the modern medium; understanding acrylics
Join Rheni for an acrylic demo and discussion at ART for ALL CANADA! This presentation is a broad scope presentation on understanding acrylic paints and mediums, and an exploration of improvisational application methods and techniques. Acrylics are a revolutionary medium, an evolving material. Understanding how they work and how acrylic mediums can be used to manipulated and dictate the behaviour and appearance of the acrylic surface will enhance every painters creative process. The emphasis of this presentation will be on high viscosity and Liquid acrylic colours as well as a large array of acrylic mediums and additives. The author of "The New Acrylics" and it's sequel, "New Acrylics Essential Sourcebook" (Watson-Guptill 2009), Rheni Tauchid has an extensive working knowledge of acrylic paints from the point of view of a painter, manufacturer and researcher. Materials consultant and Acrylic Education program director for Tri-Art Manufacturing, her passion is to paint, and to impart knowledge on the Acrylic materials.
