Gel Mediums

Low Viscosity Gel

Low Viscosity Gel is thick and easy to manipulate. It will hold smooth textures and will extend and add body to liquid acrylic colours.

Gel Medium

Gel Medium is in essence, high viscosity paint without pigments. It is capable of holding every texture detail from high peaks to a fingerprint and stays flexible even in thick applications.

Modeling Gel

An ultra-thick gel capable of holding extreme texture. Best applied with spreading tools, this gel is ideal for collage with heavy objects and creating heavy impasto.

Polymer Medium

Polymer Medium is in essence, Tri-Art Liquid Paint without pigment. It will maintain brushstrokes and light textures. It dries to a water permanent, flexible film.

Glazing Medium retains very subtle brush marks. It is very thin and free-flowing with good adhesion and flexibility.

Low Viscosity Polymer Medium has a water-like consistency and dries to a permanent, flexible, glossy finish. It is the ultimate medium for producing thin, level layers and fine-detail brush work.

A liquid medium that will radically opacify transparent and semi-opaque colours without white! Retains the true hue of the colour while providing added hiding power.

UV Reactive Polymer

UV Reactive Polymer reacts under black light with glowing brightness, while remaining virtually invisible in normal light.

Offers improved lightfastness and weather ability compared to conventional polymers.

Gesso & Grounds

Dry Media Ground

Milky when wet, dries translucent with reduced clarity. Use to create sandstone fine textures.

fibre paste medium in jar.

Fibre Paste

Creates thick texture, holds extreme peaks, and fine edges. Ideal for painting, craft, and design applications. The matte finish provides a tooth for all dry media.

modeling paste in jar.

Modeling Paste

Ultra thick, opaque with an extremely white finish. May be slightly
tinted prior to applying or painted once dry. Will not crack, rub,
flake, or lift from the substrate.

clear modeling paste in jar.

Modeling Paste Clear

An excellent choice for creating custom coloured paste. Remains flexible even in thick applications. Once dry, it may be sanded and carved into.

black gesso in jar.


Formulated with the highest concentration of 100% acrylic emulsion, pigment and calcium carbonate. A suitable pH neutral ground for both acrylic and oil paints. Available in Clear, White, Canvas, Burnt Umber and Carbon Black.

Sludge Gesso

Tinted with 100% recycled waste pigments (tints vary with production). 2-3 coats are recommended. Cleans up with water.

Available in: 1 L and 3.78 L

Crackle Ground

Just pour and spread to achieve hairline or thick cracks. Crackle Ground is easy to apply and manipulate.  Its thin consistency makes it flow on the surface by tilting or by spreading with a palette knife.

Thick, semi-transparent, mediums used to create a variety of granular textures. They mix easily with Tri-Art acrylic colours and mediums. Comes in three textures; extra coarse, coarse, and fine textures.

Final Finish

Final Finish is a self-leveling polymer, designed to unify the luster of a finished painting. Its water-like consistency prevents brush marks.

Top Coat Soft

Top Coat Soft is a 100% water-based urethane suitable as a finishing layer on flexible substrates.

Available in: Matte, semi-gloss, and glossy finishes.

Top Coat Hard

A pure acrylic dispersion for use only on hard, rigid substrates. It dries very hard and scratch resistant. Painted surfaces must be fully cured to insure full adhesion and prevent paint from lifting or cracking.

Retarder Gel is a thick gel format of Retarder. It is formulated for use with Tri-Art’s High Viscosity paints and mediums.
