Product information

Pigment Description

Found in the works of Impressionist painters like Claude Monet, Viridian gained popularity in the 19th century as a clear, bluish-green. This expertly formulated hue replaces the moderately toxic, genuine form of Viridian. Comprised of phthalo green (blue shade) and raw umber, Viridian Hue is very deep green in mass tone, with a rich blue-green emerald undertone to match. Viridian Hue is excellent for glazing in thin layers and a softer alternative to phthalo green, at the far end of earth green.

Product Description

Viridian (Hue) is part of Tri-Art High Viscosity Professional Acrylic Paint, a heavy body acrylic with a thick, buttery consistency that holds brushstrokes and palette-knife texture. Built with high pigment loading and a fine grind, it stays bold and clean for impasto, scumbling, and confident brushwork.

Pigment profile: Mixed pigment colour (PBR7, PG7). Bias: Cool. Pigment family: Mixed. Semi-opaque handling, a good balance of coverage and depth for layered mixtures and scumbles. High tinting strength, start with a small amount when mixing. Full staining, tends to leave a stronger stain in thin films and glazes. Lightfastness rating: 4. Sheen: Semi-gloss.
