Shipping policy

Orders are processed in 1-3 business days. Posted shipping estimates do not factor in processing time.

Orders within Canada are shipped via UPS or Purolator. Rates are calculated based on weight and package size. We offer free shipping on orders over $89 (before tax). Please note we cannot ship to a PO Box.

Orders to the United States are shipped by Canada Post/USPS at the rate selected at checkout. Rates are calculated based on weight and package size. Any applicable customs charges will be added to the order at checkout. We offer free shipping on orders over $100 USD.

Orders to the UK are shipped via UPS at the rate selected at checkout. Rates are calculated based on weight and package size. We offer free shipping to the UK on orders over £75.

Shipping to the EU are shipped via UPS at the rate selected at checkout. Rates are calculated based on weight and package size. Any applicable customs charges will be added to the order at checkout.

Orders to the rest of the world are shipped via UPS at the rate selected at checkout. Rates are calculated based on weight and package size.  Any applicable duties/taxes will be the responsibility of the customer, to be paid at the time of import.

Refund policy

Returns
Our policy lasts 30 days. If 30 days have gone by since your purchase, unfortunately we can’t offer you a refund or exchange.

To be eligible for a return or exchange, your item must be unused, unopened and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging.

Refunds (if applicable)
Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.

If you are approved, then your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment, within a certain amount of days.

Late or missing refunds (if applicable)
If you haven’t received a refund yet, first check your bank account again.
Then contact your credit card company, it may take some time before your refund is officially posted.
Next contact your bank. There is often some processing time before a refund is posted.

Sale items (if applicable)
Only regular priced items may be refunded, unfortunately sale items cannot be refunded.

Exchanges (if applicable)
We only replace items if they are defective or damaged. If you need to exchange it for the same item, send us an email at support@tri-art.ca and send your item to: 290 Princess St, Kingston ON K7L 1B5, Canada.

You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable. 
Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you, may vary.

If you are shipping an item over $75, you should consider using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance. We don’t guarantee that we will receive your returned item.

Lightfastness
4 (Excellent) Tri-Art numeric scale: 4 = Excellent, 3 = Very Good. A rating of 4 = 'I' on an ASTM lightfastness scale, and a rating of 3 = 'II' on an ASTM lightfastness scale.
Opacity
O Opacity codes: T = Transparent, SO = Semi-opaque, O = Opaque.
Pigments
mixed Single pigment colours tend to mix cleaner and are easier to predict. Mixed pigment colours combine multiple pigments to achieve a specific hue or behaviour.

SG Sheen is the surface reflectivity after drying. Codes: M = Matte, SG = Semi-gloss, G = Gloss.
Description

A dark, blue-leaning violet with real weight behind it. At full strength it's closer to deep plum than to bright purple, quiet and dense rather than showy, and it stays clean as it goes dark instead of collapsing into grey. Pulled into white it opens up into soft lilac and heather tones; used as a glaze over a light ground it cools everything under it. It's a strong darkening partner for yellows and warm oranges, and a single-stroke shadow, drapery or dusk colour with no extra mixing needed.

Part of the Tri-Art Limited Edition series. Made in Canada, in 60mL (2.02 fl oz) tubes, with the same buttery, peak-holding High Viscosity body and heavy pigment load as the core line. Once these are gone, they're gone.

What acrylic paint actually is

Acrylic paint is pigment dispersed in an acrylic polymer emulsion. As water evaporates, the acrylic particles coalesce into a continuous, flexible film that locks pigment in place and adheres to the surface.

Our binder and manufacturing approach

Tri-Art paints are 100% acrylic polymer emulsion products. We manufacture using a custom high-solids acrylic resin, and this binder standard applies across our range, including professional and student quality.

Tensile strength
A strong, resilient film that holds together well as it dries and cures.
Adhesion
Excellent grip to properly prepared surfaces, supporting durable layers.
Clarity
High clarity helps colours read cleanly, especially in thinner passages and glazing.
Non-yellowing
A stable acrylic film that stays clear over time.

Using water confidently

Because our acrylic films are built on a high-solids acrylic resin system, artists can be more comfortable using water as a working medium without feeling like they are automatically compromising film integrity. For very thin applications, build in controlled layers and let each layer dry before continuing.

Practical tip: if you are creating extremely thin washes for extended areas, consider alternating thin layers with normal-strength layers to maintain a robust film build.

Eligibility

Eligibility
Proof of purchase is required (order number or receipt). Limit one satisfaction claim per household per 12 months. Product should be used only in a reasonable amount needed to evaluate it (guideline: up to 25% used).

Claim limit
The maximum value refunded or replaced under the Satisfaction Guarantee is $150 CAD per claim, calculated on the product price paid, excluding taxes and shipping. Combined with the one-claim limit above, $150 CAD is the most that can be claimed per household in any 12-month period. This cap does not apply to the Defect-Free Replacement Warranty below.

Not covered under the Satisfaction Guarantee
Final sale or clearance items, gift cards, special order items, and issues caused by misuse, improper storage, or normal wear.

Defect-Free Replacement Warranty
If a product is defective, we will replace it at no cost after verification. We may request photos, the batch code or lot number, and the unused portion for inspection.
