Here at Tri-Art we are always striving to improve our products. When we noticed our Masking Fluid was failing quality control we took to the R&D department to research and resolve the problem.
What is masking fluid exactly? How does it work?
Masking fluid is made with natural latex – not the paint you for your walls – but the latex that comes from rubber trees. Latex is a highly unique material that allows for products like Masking Fluid, but it is also an unfortunately sensitive one. Heat, sunlight, pH, and bacterial colonization can all cause latex to fail in dramatic ways – even simply mixing the latex too fast will cause it to coagulate.
What has changed in the new formula?
After considerable testing we found that our previous Masking Fluid formula was prematurely solidifying in-can largely due to a drop in pH over time. We are happy to announce this has been corrected and that all new batches of Tri-Art Masking Fluid will have a greatly improved shelf life. The working properties of the Masking Fluid will remain unchanged.
All Tri-Art Masking Fluid with a batch number greater than 44559 will contain the new, improved formula.
Tips to keep your Masking Fluid liquid and useable for as long as possible:
- Always tightly close the jar when not in use
- Keep out of direct sunlight
- Store in comfortable temperatures, between 5°C and 25°C
