01 · The Story

Started in the back of an art store.

Tri-Art Manufacturing is a family-run company founded in Kingston, Ontario in 1994. What began as a small paint-making operation in the back of Art Noise, a local art supply store and gallery, has grown into an internationally recognized brand trusted by artists around the world.

Unlike coatings or wall-paint manufacturers who branch into fine art products, Tri-Art has always been dedicated exclusively to making fine art paints, by artists for artists. Our team of makers and innovators continually refine our formulations to deliver professional-grade quality across a diverse range of materials, from acrylics, oils, and watercolours to inks, tempera, and specialty lines.

Today, Tri-Art operates from a 100,000 square foot facility, employs over 60 local staff, and produces more than 20 distinct paint lines along with in-house packaging. We remain committed to the values that shaped our humble beginnings: quality, innovation, and a deep respect for the creative community we serve.

Six departments, one floor.

From raw pigment to finished tube, every stage of production happens under one roof in Kingston. The same six departments that have been milling paint here for thirty years.

The Paint Lab

Colour development, batch testing, quality assurance. Our lab approves nearly thirty fresh batches of paint every single day. Texture, gloss, opacity, thickness, colour, pH. Every parameter checked, every batch traceable.

Where raw pigment becomes paint. Over fifty thousand litres milled per month across acrylics, watercolours, inks, and specialty lines. Same equipment, same process, same standard the company was founded on.

Blow Molding

Custom plastic bottles and containers, molded in house. The packaging is part of the product. Doing it under our own roof means we control the spec, the consistency, and the timing of every run.

Tri-Art filling and labeling

Filling and Labeling

The final stage. Over 185,000 units filled and labeled each month. Our custom grey water system recycles wash water, so the operation uses less water than the average household.

06 · Beyond the Paint

Three side projects, all related.

Tri-Art has never been a company that stays in one lane. Over thirty years, the same machinery, R&D, and team that mill artist paint have produced ventures in eco-packaging, large-scale projection, and high-end audio.
