Product information

Pigment Description

A staple of painting since the 18th century, Prussian blue still looks fresh and vibrant on a palette next to modern blues. Deep and rich in colour, our formulation has a violet undertone reminiscent of ultramarine blue. Authentic iron ferrocyanide cannot be utilized in acrylic due to its instability in alkaline solutions, so Tri-Art has expertly formulated this hue based on phthalo blue (red shade) and dioxane violet. Use as a mixing compliment, or as a glaze to bring out its deep violet-blue undertone.

Product Description

Prussian Blue (Hue) is part of Tri-Art High Viscosity Professional Acrylic Paint, a heavy body acrylic with a thick, buttery consistency that holds brushstrokes and palette-knife texture. Built with high pigment loading and a fine grind, it stays bold and clean for impasto, scumbling, and confident brushwork.

Pigment profile: Mixed pigment colour (PB15:1, PV23). Bias: Warm. Pigment family: Organic. Transparent handling, excellent for glazing, optical layering, and deep colour mixes. High tinting strength, start with a small amount when mixing. Full staining, tends to leave a stronger stain in thin films and glazes. Lightfastness rating: 4. Sheen: Gloss.
